PolicyMaker Series - State of Loudoun's Economy

The Loudoun County Chamber is proud to host the County’s Director of Economic Development, Buddy Rizer, and George Washington University Professor Christopher Leinberger, for a insider's look at the state of Loudoun's economy and a discussion on what the County must do to create jobs, attract investment and expand our commercial tax base.

Rizer will discuss the County’s strategic plan to attract new companies to Loudoun and the County’s efforts to retain existing business. Rizer also will address the challenges Loudoun's employers face in recruiting and retaining a skilled workforce.

A renowned expert on smart growth, Professor Leinberger will discuss his work with the Urban Land Institute to study development around Loudoun’s planned Metrorail stations and how the County can best leverage the economic value of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. Dr. Leinberger will focus on the walkable urban trend driving today’s commercial real estate development and how Metrorail affords Loudoun County a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build the kind of urban walkable environments that today’s workforce demands.

Mr. Robert Klancher, Ashburn District Representative to Loudoun County’s Planning Commission will talk about his recent work with the County’s Affordable Housing Stakeholder’s Group and how crucial affordable workforce housing, across all income level, is for the economic and social well-being of the County.
