This interactive workshop will give you the tools you need to strengthen the vital leadership partnership between the board chair and executive director. You will learn the keys to shared leadership that will strengthen how the board and staff can more effectively work together to achieve your agency’s mission. We will explore typical challenges and discuss how the executive director and board chair might together resolve them.

Mary Ellen Bowers, a former nonprofit executive director and for-profit executive with fifteen years as a volunteer consultant to nonprofits, is the manager of Loudoun Cares Executive Consulting Program. Her work with Loudoun nonprofits includes facilitating board development and retreats, strategic planning, fundraising, one-on-one coaching of executive directors, and more.

Leigh Shields brings his deep corporate leadership experience combined with years as an executive coaching and leadership development consultant to help nonprofit leaders bring their best to the challenges of today’s nonprofit environment. His work with regional nonprofit leaders includes group leadership development programs and individual executive coaching.  

The Loudoun Nonprofit Academy

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the launch of the Nonprofit Academy training and certificate series in partnership with the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties and Loudoun Cares.

Nonprofit Academy attendees that complete 40 hours of Academy training over a three-year period earn a "Certified Nonprofit Professionals" designation from the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.
